| Nexstar Media Group/KTLA 5 – Backstage at the Rose Parade • Parade CountdownLos Angeles, CAField Producer, Segment Producer, Editor •Field Produced for KTLA’s Live Pre-Parade Coverage on parade day •Produced/Edited features packages for KTLA’s Live Pre-Parade Coverage •Use two-way radios to communicate with stage managers, line producer, and talent along the parade route during live commercial broadcast. •Duties: Working with on-air talent, stage managers, and line producers during live commercial broadcast, giving viewers backstage access and a closer look at floats, the Rose Queen and Court, and other participants. •Pre-Production Duties: Identifying and pitching story ideas, coordinating with camera/sound crews, talent, guests and their agents before/during/after shoots, preparing location-shoot forms (and delivering them, as early as possible, to everyone involved), advancing a questions list for talent, work closely with Producer and Executive Producers in a highly collaborative environment to evolve the story. •Production Duties: Writing, media management, string outs, editing (FCP X and Adobe Premiere Pro), selecting music and sound design. •Technical Skills: Formatting external hard drives, copying media in the field (to save time), resourcefully selecting b-roll, creatively editing draft timelines to reflect notes, selecting music, SOTs and scratch tracks for pacing. •Deliver segments 90% completed so that staff editors only need to sweeten, without a script, replace low-res clips, and add graphics. | |

With 2011 Medal of Freedom recipient Dolores Huerta and Jarritos, the 90-minute social justice project profiles American entrepreneurs and Mexican immigrants in the food truck industry, and takes a bilingual modern-day look at the classic American Dream. Additional Duties: writing, translating (English/Spanish), shooting/lighting interviews/b-roll with my own HD handheld camcorder (Sony Z5U) and lighting kit, media management, logging interviews, string outs, pulling media clips, editing (Final Cut 7 & X and Adobe Premiere Pro), and sound design. I also scouted/interviewed/hired students and professionals for a range of duties, including production assistants, assistant editors, subtitle editors, animation artists, motion graphics, musicians, musical engineers, voice-over artists, photographers, photojournalists, and field producers. Website Duties: creating, designing, and maintaining a WordPress site, producing specialized online content, maximizing content for SEO capabilities, and successful social media marketing that has led to more than 12,000 Facebook likes. •Concepts Completos is my indie multimedia production company specializing in stories that are best told in English and Spanish.
